Rufus King International Middle School clubs and teams encourage students to grow as artists and problem-solvers.
Chess tournaments and basketball practices are opportunities to strategize, make friends, and learn new skills.
Parents and caregivers, please join us in encouraging your student’s participation in Rufus King extracurricular activities. Ask our parent coordinator or your child’s classroom teacher for sign-up and schedule information.
African Dance
Dancers made their performance debut during our 2024 Black History celebration. They return for the 2024-25 school year to study and share dance traditions from Nigeria and other African nations and cultures.
Athletics
Student-athletes practice and compete in several sports: boys and girls basketball, girls cheerleading, coed flag football, and coed volleyball.
Chess Club
Beginning to advanced chess players are welcome. Chess Club meets after school and competes city-wide during evening and weekend tournaments.
Student Announcers
Students practice public speaking skills by reading the morning announcements on our public address system.
Student Leadership Committee
Student leaders learn how to analyze problems, find root causes, research best practices, and propose realistic solutions — all while building community and having fun!
Tutoring
Students can get one-on-one or small group tutoring in any subject. After-school tutoring is provided by Rufus King International Middle School staff.
