Activities

Students can strengthen their skills as artists, athletes, and scholars in Roosevelt Creative Arts Middle School extracurricular activities, athletics program, and theater productions. Go Phantoms!

Chess Club

Beginning to advanced chess players are welcome. The Chess Club practices after school and competes city-wide in evening and weekend tournaments.

Forensics

Students research, write, and perform creative speeches or stories for district-wide and state-wide festivals and tournaments. Forensics participation prepares students for “a lifetime of effective participation in a democratic society” as they develop strong presentation and research skills, and grow as public speakers, solo performers, and teammates.

Girls on the Run

Fun, evidence-based programs inspire girls to build their confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills. Dynamic lessons instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health.

My Sista’s KeepHer

My Sista’s KeepHer empowers young girls and women to love themselves and each other using the art of poetry to promote positive self-expression, achievement of their dreams and the ability to live healthy, safe, and productive lives. My Sista’s KeepHer meets during the school day.

Poetry Club

Young authors read poetry and write and display their original poetry campus-wide, welcoming and inspiring the Roosevelt Creative Arts Middle School community.

Student Council

Council members are the changemakers and ambassadors of our school. They represent and advocate for other students, participate in new student orientation, and lead family and VIP tours of the school.

Theater

The Roosevelt theater season includes a dinner theater event in the fall and our spring musical. Stage productions are all-school, student-led showcases combining dance, drama, music, and the visual arts. More than 50 students audition for on-stage roles each year; others apply for director and stage manager positions. STEM-minded students operate lighting and tech. Scriptwriting and reading begin in the classroom. Students learn about music production when they rehearse and record original and copyrighted music in our in-house recording studio. Some theater rehearsals and performances may take place evenings and weekends.

Athletics

The Roosevelt Phantoms practice and compete in several sports: basketball, cheerleading, cross country, flag football, soccer, track, and volleyball.
