August 1, 2025 | News

Milwaukee Public Schools wants to help students get the new school year off to a great start! The district is offering important information to guide families as the start of school approaches this fall.

All MPS students begin school Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Visit our School Calendars webpage beginning August 1 to see the full schedule for the year.

If your child needs a school for fall, now is the time to enroll. Visit mpsmke.com/enrollnow for information. You can also visit MPS Central Services, 5225 W. Vliet St., Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This year, make attendance a priority! We want to see every student in class on time every day. Excellent attendance in the first few weeks of school starts good habits that will carry through the school year. Every day counts!

A new school year means new school supplies! Find the supply list for your child’s grade level (K3–8) on our Supply Lists webpage. High school students will receive information regarding classroom supplies from their instructors.

MPS is proud to offer free breakfast and lunch to every student in the district on school days. For more information, visit the MPS Nutrition Services webpage.

Bus information will be mailed to families and should arrive sometime during the week before the first day of class. In addition, district families have access to an exciting app to help track their child’s bus—WheresTheBus! This app allows families to track their child’s bus in real time.

The app is free! Families can access WheresTheBus from any Internet-enabled device—smartphone, tablet, PC, or iPad. Apple iOS and Android apps are available.

To access WheresTheBus, families must have a Campus Parent (parent portal) account with a login and password. These can be set up two ways:

  • At each child’s school during regular school hours; an ID is required; OR
  • At MPS Central Services, 5225 W. Vliet St., Milwaukee, WI 53208, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; an ID is required

Learn more and read how to access the app on the MPS website at WheresTheBus.

We know that families will have questions—please contact your child’s teacher, principal, or school office any time assistance is needed.

We’re looking forward to a great school year!
