We are grateful for the educational opportunities, unique perspectives and new experiences made possible by our generous community partners.

We believe that by working in collaboration with the Milwaukee community, we can build a strong support network for South Division students, motivating them to develop into mature, responsible adults capable of bringing about positive change.

City Year

City Year partners with public schools in high-poverty communities to help bridge the gap between what students need and what schools are designed to provide. In doing so, they’re helping students reach their full potential and make it to graduation in communities all across America. City Year corps members provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to help students stay on track or get back on track to graduation and life success. City Year members work with South Division students in our after-school Tutoring Club.

College Board

The education nonprofit College Board reaches more than 7 million students yearly as they navigate the path from high school to college and career. College Board programs include Advanced Placement courses, taught by South Division educators.

College Possible Wisconsin

College Possible Wisconsin, formerly College Possible Milwaukee, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making college accessible and achievable for all Wisconsin students. Through comprehensive support services and strategic partnerships, College Possible Wisconsin empowers students to overcome barriers and succeed in higher education. With a commitment to equity and inclusivity, College Possible Wisconsin strives to create opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds to achieve their college dreams.

Literacy Services of Wisconsin

Literacy Services of Wisconsin partners with motivated adults to provide access to quality basic education and skills training so they can improve their lives, enrich their families, and strengthen the community. Literacy Services of Wisconsin provides weekly adult literacy classes for caregivers in the South Division Parent Resource Center.

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)

MATC is a two-year institution that offers more than 170 degree, diploma, and certificate programs. MATC has numerous four-year transfer partners, including pathways through guaranteed admission agreements with four-year colleges and universities. MATC offers dual-enrollment courses to MPS students through Start College Now, transcripted credits, and the M3 College Connections program.

MATC is one of three lead partners of the M3 initiative (M-Cubed). Along with Milwaukee Public Schools and UW-Milwaukee, this collaboration is dedicated to transforming the future of Milwaukee through education. One facet of M3 is the College Connections Program, which provides dual enrollment opportunities at MATC and UWM to MPS students.

Milwaukee Christian Center

The Milwaukee Christian Center (MCC) mission focuses on building strong neighborhoods full of opportunity throughout the City of Milwaukee in four core areas: youth development, housing, older adults, and food security. The Milwaukee Christian Center hosts the Cardinal Violence Free Zone at South Division.

Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership

South Division High School is proud to be a member of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership (MCSP). Through MCSP, our students, families, teachers, staff, neighbors, and partners come together to form a strategy that best meets the needs of our students.

The MCSP is made up of three key partners with the core values of shared leadership, equity, and cultural relevance:

  • Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association
  • United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County

Milwaukee Teachers’ Education Association

Members of the MTEA are the educators who work directly with the students who attend Milwaukee’s public schools. Collectively they advocate for quality public education in Milwaukee. As advocates for educators, they are advocates for all children. They are here to lead the dialogue, to challenge, to support and work for change — ensuring a better future for their members and the students and families they serve. The MTEA is a lead partner of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership.

NAF

The NAF program offers career courses and training, mentorship and internship experiences, and more to prepare students for college and career. Select MPS high schools offer different career academies. South Division has two NAF academies: Academy of Education and Academy of Health Sciences.

Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers

In addition to providing great medical care, Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers are committed to providing community care by offering services geared toward making our community safer, teaching ways to improve health, and helping families and children thrive.

Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers is South Division’s partner organization through the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership. Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers even operates a clinic at South Division. Bilingual clinicians provide medical care to our staff, students and their families, and school neighbors.

United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County

An independently-governed 501(c)3 nonprofit organization connected to a network of more than 1,400 local United Ways through United Way Worldwide, the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County focuses its work on local solutions for local problems. The United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County is a lead partner of the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership.

University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison)

UW-Madison is an exhilarating campus with almost 48,000 students from all 50 U.S. states and around 6,000 international students from over 130 countries. UW-Madison recruits South Division students for enrollment in its PEOPLE pre-college program.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay

UW-Green Bay fearlessly faces challenges, solves problems, embraces diversity and forges access to education for all who seek it. UW-Green Bay is the fastest-growing UW school in Wisconsin. With campuses in Marinette, Manitowoc, Sheboygan and Green Bay, its mission is to teach all who wish to learn. UW-Green Bay partners with South Division through the UW-Green Bay Rising Phoenix program.

University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM)

UWM provides an affordable, world-class education to 23,000 students from 86 countries. As one of the nation’s top research universities, UWM partners with leading companies in Wisconsin and beyond to advance knowledge, bring new discoveries to market and prepare students for work in a global economy.
