Activities

Students can become journalists, athletes, and strategists when they join extracurricular clubs and teams at Gilbert Stuart School.

Some clubs meet during the school day but most meet after school. Parents and caregivers, please join us in encouraging your child’s participation. Ask our parent coordinator or your child’s classroom teacher for sign-up and schedule information.

African Drumming

Students learn about African music and performance traditions while developing discipline and drumming skills. Led by a professional music educator and performer, weekly percussion lessons enhance our music curriculum and prepare students for school concerts and cultural events.

Athletics

The Stuart School Eagles compete in co-ed basketball.

Chess Club

Beginning to advanced chess players in third through fifth grade are welcome. Chess Club practices after school and competes city-wide during evening and weekend tournaments.

Girls on Fire

Girls in grades three through five meet weekly. By participating in conversations about self-care and self-esteem and engaging in service work, Girls on Fire members support one another and make Stuart School stronger.

Stuart News Crew

Third through fifth graders can audition for a spot on our in-house news crew. News anchors present live daily announcements that are informative, entertaining, and reinforce school-wide goals and the IB learner profile. Donated, professional-grade AV equipment and smartboards bring broadcasts into every classroom.

Student Council

First through fifth graders campaign to represent their classroom on the Stuart Student Council. Elected by classmates, council members take agency and use their communication skills to present classroom and school-wide improvement ideas during monthly meetings, daily announcements, and conversations with teachers and administrators.
