Escuela Vieau is a school of choice for families and educators who believe that our commitment to diversity, biliteracy, and community best prepare children to succeed as global citizens. Named Milwaukee’s first bilingual school in the 1960s, Escuela Vieau is home to one of Milwaukee’s largest bilingual education departments, and every teacher on our staff has pursued certification in their subject area.

School Hours

Escuela Vieau’s curriculum combines expert teaching and new technology in all classrooms so K4-8 students develop STEM skills while learning academic content. Older students collaborate, create, and code in Escuela Vieau’s Project Lead The Way engineering lab. Weekly art, gym, and music classes are popular and powerful opportunities for students to recharge their busy brains and bodies. And there is always “more” to experience at Escuela Vieau. Check back in spring of 2024 to see photos of our new Arts & Makerspace and renovated Goethel Library/Media Center.
Making its home in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood, Escuela Vieau is located in an historic building near some of our city’s leading corporate and cultural organizations. Artists, entrepreneurs, and university students connect with our school as volunteer educators, tutors, and mentors. Students can choose from a catalog of enrichment activities that prepare them for STEM competitions, performing arts showcases, a trip to Washington, D.C., camping, and college tours.
The most important partnership of all is between Escuela Vieau and our families. Family involvement is strong as parents and caregivers join the governance council and volunteer here. Join us for “desayuno familiar” on the first Friday of each month and learn why many caregivers enroll all their children at Escuela Vieau for the duration of their K3-8 years.
Before and After School Programs
The Nita M. Lowey Community Learning Center at Escuela Vieau provides before- and after-school enrichment programs to K4 through eighth-grade students in partnership with Milwaukee Recreation and Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.
