Vision Support for Students
Vision support for Washington Students
1. Milwaukee Community School Partnership Vision Donation Program (Through Labor Council)
- One student per month can receive a free exam and glasses at a Wisconsin Vision location.
- Referral Process: Initiated by the MCSP Community Coordinator. The Coordinator works with the Labor Union to connect the student/family with the closest Wisconsin Vision location and follows up until glasses are obtained.
-
Important: School should work with the student’s families to identify and address any barriers they may be facing before scheduling their appointments and taking the student to a Wisconsin Vision location. Last year, some families did not show up or canceled appointments, forfeiting our donation for that month.
2. Wisconsin Vision Vouchers
- 150 vouchers have been purchased through the Milwaukee Community School Partnership health grant. Each voucher is good for a free exam and glasses at four Wisconsin Vision locations until 06/30/2025.
-
Locations:
-
Vouchers are only good at these 4 locations:
-
-
- Glendale (5530 N Port Washington Rd, Glendale, WI 53217)
- Miller Park (1220 Miller Park Way, West Milwaukee, WI 53214)
- Layton (1920 W Layton Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53221)
- Burleigh (12325 W Burleigh St, Wauwatosa, WI 53222)
- Voucher Request: Coordinators will need to complete a form and send it to Freddie. A unique PDF will be shared with the school team to fill out information for students. Follow up with the student and family will be required to ensure glasses are obtained.
-
Priority: Schools that have completed their 2024-2025 vision screenings will have priority or school that have had their School Nurse perform a Snellen Exam to identify vision impairments.
