Students develop the knowledge and skills to realize their college and career goals today, supported by experienced educators and counselors. State of the art laboratories and industry-connected academies prepare students for careers in skilled trades, hospitality and tourism, and the information economy. College and university partners bring advanced courses to Washington students who can participate in tours and college-prep workshops. Every student is unique. Alternative and special education programs provide individualized support to help them discover their talents, trajectory, and timeline to graduation.
A renovated gym symbolizes Washington’s commitment to community wellness and honors our legacy as a basketball and football powerhouse. Student-athletes now train and compete in top-tier facilities that include a turf field, 400-meter track, and renovated pool. Built in partnership with the nonprofit Common Ground, these facilities meet the needs of Sherman Park neighbors and Washington fans. Alumni can once again enjoy Milwaukee City Conference basketball at their alma mater, and they support new generations of Purgolders as boosters and scholarship donors.
Our membership in the Milwaukee Community Schools Partnership brings a network of resources and role models to Washington. We focus on family well-being during nutrition, mental wellness, and personal finance workshops. Students build community and confidence in after-school enrichment and leadership programs. Washington High School of Information Technology thrives on community engagement, from our parent- and college/career centers to our athletics program. Monthly leadership teams bring us together to continue the work that Washington High School started in 1911: putting every student first.
