Greetings Washington families. My Name is Alex Kuxhause and I am the Principal of Washington High School of Information Technology, effective fall of 2023. It is with great pride and honor that I continue the excellent traditions of Washington High School with your children and the community of Washington HS. I hope this letter finds you and your family well.
Washington staff are united and focused on improving student outcomes and offering many great postsecondary opportunities to our students. First, we strive to provide your child with a safe learning environment where they can be themselves and be successful. This begins with relationship building. I look forward to getting to know your student(s) and your family. Please get to know our incredible staff by attending a school event, parent-teacher conferences in fall and spring, or by joining our Family Leadership Organization or School Community Leadership Team.
The 2024-25 school year will mark my 16th year as an educator working in MPS. Since I graduated from UW-Milwaukee, I have worked in several different schools. I was a special education teacher at Audubon HS for six years before becoming a school administrator. I have been a school administrator at Obama SCTE, Milwaukee School of Languages, and Bay View HS.
Students, I hope that you are excited to be a Washington Purgolder. Learning together this year includes exploring our new outdoor athletics complex, renovated pool and gym, and training on new equipment in our Fab Lab. There are many ways to succeed at Washington: workforce-prep career academies, a new music program, upgraded athletics facilities and new coaching staff, and alternative education offerings.
In closing, please know that my door is always open to parents and students alike. I heartily welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2024-25 school year. Go Purgolders!
