NAF Academies

NAF is a national education nonprofit that connects high schools with industry leaders in high-growth professions to transform the student learning experience.

Here at Washington High School of Information Technology, we proudly offer two career academies: NAF Academy of Information Technology and NAF Academy of Hospitality and Tourism.

NAF academies are small learning communities within public high schools. Students can choose an academy based on their interests. Academies help shape diverse, well-prepared workforces in fast-growing industries through coursework and experiences like:

NAF Academy of Information Technology

In tech-equipped classrooms and our upgraded FabLab, Washington High School students use 3D-print technologies and sophisticated software. Career-centered courses include:

  • Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles
  • Database Design
  • Intro to Programming (Python)
  • Introductory game, graphic, mobile app, and web design courses
  • Personal Finance

NAF Academy of Hospitality and Tourism

Washington High School students develop workforce-ready skills in the academy’s industry-backed culinary arts and restaurant management curriculum, ProStart. They learn about hospitality and tourism-industry best practices and communication strategies and refine their digital design skills through career-centered courses that include:

  • Intro and Advanced Culinary Arts
  • Introductory graphic design and mobile app courses
  • Personal Finance
  • Principles of Hospitality & Tourism
  • Sports and Event Planning
