Activities encourage students to develop new interests and skills and make meaningful connections with classmates and the community.<\/p>\n<h2>Anime Club<\/h2>\n<p>Members read new manga titles, attend the MPS manga convention, and find other ways to experience anime, a popular Japanese cultural export.<\/p>\n<h2>Community School Youth Council<\/h2>\n<p>Community schools work to create safe, welcoming spaces where young leaders can organize and practice student-centered engagement strategies. Our Community School Youth Council welcomes all students with a willingness to learn, grow, and actively participate in school improvement and transformation. Through patience, dedication, and collaboration, student leaders are defining and working toward a new standard of excellence at Washington High School of Information Technology.<\/p>\n<h2>Drumline<\/h2>\n<p>Drumline performers set the beat and hype the crowd at games, music competitions, and community events.<\/p>\n<h2>Gender Sexuality Alliance (GSA)<\/h2>\n<p>Washington\u2019s GSA is a safe space for all LGBTQ+ students and allies. Meetings occur every other Tuesday during lunch hour in room 150.<\/p>\n<h2>Girls Flag Football<\/h2>\n<p>Girls forge friendships while mastering techniques in flag-pulling, rushing, footwork, and discipline. There is a position for everyone on Washington\u2019s intramural team, which plays 5 v. 5 and 7 v. 7 flag football against school teams from across Greater Milwaukee.<\/p>\n<h2>Girls of Color<\/h2>\n<p>The Girls of Color program creates true co-collaborative partnerships with school sites that demonstrate a true commitment, capacity, and structure to elevate, enhance and\/or improve how they support girls of color.\u202f<\/p>\n<h2>Knights Before Bishops<\/h2>\n<p>The chess club meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the cafeteria, and hosts intraschool tournaments every third Thursday. Learning and playing chess strengthens critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, promotes deep concentration, emphasizes sustained and self-directed learning, and much more.<\/p>\n<h2>Special Olympics<\/h2>\n<p>Washington is a Special Olympics Unified Champion School. With sports as the foundation, the Unified Champion School program model equips young people with tools and training to create sports, classrooms, and school climates of acceptance. In Champion Schools, students with disabilities feel welcome, included, and engaged in all functions and activities, from athletics to youth leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Washington athletes can compete on traditional and\/or Unified Special Olympics teams: Unified flag football; Unified and traditional teams in bowling, basketball, cornhole, and track and field.<\/p>\n<h2>Twilight Center<\/h2>\n<p>Milwaukee Recreation hosts a Twilight Center at Washington.
