{"id":235701,"date":"2025-04-09T15:55:20","date_gmt":"2025-04-09T15:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mpsschoolsites.wpenginepowered.com\/washington\/?p=235701"},"modified":"2025-04-09T15:55:20","modified_gmt":"2025-04-09T15:55:20","slug":"easter-egg-hunt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mps.school\/washington\/2025\/04\/09\/easter-egg-hunt\/","title":{"rendered":"Easter Egg Hunt"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"pco8Kc obylVb j70YMc\"><b>MSOE and the Lil\u2019 Jeannetta Robinson Gifts of Love Program Present: Victory Over Violence Free Community Easter Egg Hunt<\/b><br \/>\n<b><br \/>\nMilwaukee, WI April 5, 2025<\/b>\u00a0\u2014 The Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), in partnership with the\u00a0<b>Lil\u2019 Jeannetta Robinson Gifts of Love Program<\/b>, is proud to host the\u00a0<b>Victory Over Violence Free Community Easter Egg Hunt<\/b>, a joyful and uplifting event for children ages 12 and under and their families.<\/p>\n<p>This free event will be held:<br \/>\n<b>Friday, April 18, 2025<br \/>\n9:00 AM \u2013 11:00 AM<br \/>\nVictory Over Violence Park<\/b><i>2625 North Dr. Martin Luther King Drive, Milwaukee, WI.<\/i><br \/>\nOpen to all children 12 and under, this Easter Egg Hunt offers more than just fun and candy\u2014it\u2019s a celebration of community, resilience, and the ongoing commitment to creating a safe and loving environment for Milwaukee\u2019s youth.<\/p>\n<p><b>A Legacy of Healing, Hope, and Action<\/b><br \/>\nThe event continues the powerful legacy of\u00a0<b>Jeannetta Simpson Robinson<\/b>, who, alongside Attorney Charles Hausman, founded the Victory Over Violence Park and Garden in 1985 following the tragic loss of her daughter Cheryl and granddaughter Lil\u2019 Jeannetta Robinson in 1984.<br \/>\nRather than respond with despair, Jeannetta chose to lead with love, founding the park and launching multiple community-based programs, including the Survivors of Homicide &amp; Grief Support Group. The park has since become a cornerstone of healing and a gathering space for hope, remembrance, and progress.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cEvery time a group or individual commits a positive act against violence, we achieve Victory Over Violence,\u201d<\/i>\u00a0said Charles &#8220;Butch&#8221; Walton, Jeannetta\u2019s son and lifelong advocate for community-led change.<\/p>\n<p><b>MSOE + Community: An Ongoing Partnership for Peace<\/b><br \/>\nFor the past three years,\u00a0<b>MSOE staff and honor students<\/b>, the\u00a0<b>City of Milwaukee<\/b>, the\u00a0<b>Business Improvement District (BID)<\/b>, and a coalition of community-based agencies have come together with Walton to enhance and reimagine the Victory Over Violence Park. Their work includes beautification efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and expanded programming to encourage greater seasonal involvement and visibility for positive community actions.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<b>Victory Over Violence Easter Egg Hunt<\/b>\u00a0is a symbol of this partnership in action\u2014bringing families together in joy while honoring a legacy rooted in love, resilience, and community empowerment.<br \/>\n<b>We invite all families to join us<\/b>\u00a0for this free event. No registration is required, but early arrival is encouraged.
