Bernie’s Book Bank
Bernie’s Book Bank transforms children’s lives through book ownership by sourcing, processing, and distributing free, high-quality books. Bernie’s Book Bank donates more than 600 books a year to WCLL students in grades K4–6 for summer reading.
Children’s Wisconsin: Project Ujima
Project Ujima works to stop the cycle of violence through social and emotional support, youth development and mentoring, and more. At WCLL, students engage in restorative practices that promote healing, accountability, and positive relationships. Through restorative circles, they learn productive problem-solving skills, healthy ways to navigate conflict, and strategies to repair harm when challenges arise.
Marquette University
Marquette University is a Catholic, Jesuit university with more than 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students in 11 nationally and internationally recognized colleges and schools. We are proud to partner with their College of Education, Center for Teaching and Learning. Marquette students complete fieldwork experiences at WCLL. This includes tutoring students in kindergarten through third grade who are struggling with reading.
Mental Health America of Wisconsin
Through the School Community Partnership for Mental Health, therapists from Mental Health America of Wisconsin spend one to two days per week at WCLL. As trusted members of our school community, therapists work with the teachers and the school social worker, psychologist, counselor, and parent coordinator. They get to know students and families and provide age-appropriate, evidence-based wellness workshops and therapies.
VOICES OF THE ELDERS
