Activities

Every student can find a place and purpose in Wedgewood Park International School enrichment, extracurricular, and athletic activities.
Enrichment Hour runs from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. It’s a time for students to develop deeper diplomacy, literacy, and critical thinking skills as leaders and readers in a variety of clubs. Homework help is available in all subjects.

Extracurricular activities are in session from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays. The Wedgewood Wolves chess team strategizes and prepares for competition. Young artists can explore photography techniques and equipment.

Wedgewood Wolves athletes practice from 4:20 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays.

Enrichment Hour

Program availability and meeting times can vary for Wedgewood Park enrichment-hour activities. Ask your child’s classroom teacher for sign-up and schedule information.

In addition to club-based activities, students participate in events like the annual district-wide spelling bee and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Speech Contest. Most but not all practice and preparation take place during the school day.

Advanced Math Club

Mathematical minds unite for advanced skill-building, challenges, and competitions like the UW-Oshkosh Mathematical Problem-Solving Contest.

DJ Club

Students learn to spin and scratch during this school-day enrichment activity, usually on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Friday dance breaks are a popular PBIS incentive, especially when students are the DJs, and our principal gets on the dance floor.

Forensics

Students research, write, and perform creative speeches or stories for district-wide and state-wide festivals and tournaments. Forensics participation prepares students for “a lifetime of effective participation in a democratic society” as they develop strong presentation and research skills, and grow as public speakers, solo performers, and teammates.

Guitar Club

Students learn basic guitar in preparation for performances at school, in the community, and even in competition.

Homework Help

Wedgewood Park teachers and tutors provide individualized and small-group support in all subject areas. Students can even prepare for the MPS STEM Fair.

OWN It

Motivational speeches and conversation with local leaders drive the OWN IT agenda. These Wednesday meetings provide guidance and a supportive gathering space for students dealing with behavioral or academic challenges. Teachers refer students to the club.

Poetry Club

Young authors read poetry and write and display their own poems campus-wide, welcoming and inspiring the entire Wedgewood Park International School community.

Robotics Club

Students get insider tech knowledge and develop next-gen STEAM skills when they design and build robots in our Project Lead The Way laboratory. Look for their creations at the MPS STEM Fair and regional robotics competitions.

Student Council

Council members are the changemakers and ambassadors of our school. They represent and advocate for other students, participate in new student orientation, and lead family and VIP tours of the school.

Extracurricular Activities

Most activity-based clubs meet twice per week. The availability and meeting times for extracurricular activities can vary throughout the year. Ask your child’s classroom teacher for sign-up and schedule information.

Chess Club

Beginning to advanced chess players are welcome. The Chess Club practices after school and competes city-wide during evening and weekend tournaments.

Girls on the Run

This fun, evidence-based program inspires all girls to build their confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills. Dynamic lessons instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health.

Photography Club

Students explore shadows, frames, and other photography foundations as they work with Chromebooks, laptops, and camera gear.

Athletics

Students can try out for several school sports, based on coach availability. Parents and other family members are welcome as volunteer coaches and can contact Wedgewood Park Athletics Director Rebecca McMaster at mcmastrc@milwaukee.k12.wi.us or (414) 604-7682 to learn more.
