Partnerships

We are grateful for the educational opportunities, unique perspectives, and new experiences our generous community partners make possible.

A strong support network lifts students and families at Albert E. Kagel School and helps prepare students for success in high school.

America SCORES Milwaukee

America SCORES Milwaukee offers after-school enrichment through a combination of soccer, creative writing, and community projects. Their program is designed to develop the “whole child,” not just athletic or academic skills. They are committed to empowering our students to become community leaders by inspiring them to lead healthy lives, be engaged students, and have the confidence and character to make a difference in the world.

Ascension Smart Smiles

Ascension Smart Smiles is the largest provider of school-based oral health care in Wisconsin. The Smart Smiles program specializes in preventative oral health of children from birth through adolescence. Smart Smiles dental professionals make twice-yearly visits to Kagel School, providing free oral health education and screenings, fluoride treatments, placement of sealants, and more.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee

With safe places to learn and play, positive role models, and educational programming, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee has helped local kids and teens thrive since 1887. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center at Kagel School.

Junior Achievement USA is the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices. Junior Achievement’s programs in work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy ignite the spark in young people to experience and realize the opportunities and realities of work and life in the 21st century. Scholars participate in Junior Achievement programming through Junior Achievement of Wisconsin.

My Very Own Library

Supported by Scholastic Book Fairs, United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County has provided half a million books to students in more than a dozen schools district-wide and credited more than $1 million back to school budgets. The books are paid for by United Way and our sponsors so that no child or their family needs to find the money to be able to find themselves lost in a book.

Reflo

Reflo works with partners including MPS, Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, City of Milwaukee, Fund for Lake Michigan, and Community Design Solutions to support area schools in an intensive, collaborative process to design and redevelop greener, healthier schoolyards. Projects are tailored to the specific needs and enthusiasm of the school. Designs go beyond removing pavement to maximize benefits for communities, the environment, and local economy. Kagel School and Reflo begin construction on our redeveloped schoolyard in 2025.

School Community Partnership for Mental Health

Since 2009, the School Community Partnership for Mental Health (SCPMH) has provided intensive, on-site mental wellness programs and mental health services to students and families in Milwaukee Public Schools. The partnership began in just four schools and has expanded to nearly 40 schools, including Kagel.

Lutheran Social Services

Lutheran Social Services is our school’s partner organization through the School Community Partnership for Mental Health. Therapists spend two days per week at Kagel, working with teachers, the school social worker, psychologist, counselor, and parent coordinator, to get to know students and families. As trusted members of our school community, therapists bring age appropriate, evidence-based wellness workshops and therapies to students and families.

University of Wisconsin–Madison Division of Extension

The University of Wisconsin–Madison Extension in Milwaukee County provides health and well-being programming through community partners like FoodWise and 4-H. Its agriculture initiative brings a gardening program to Kagel, where students and parents learn how to plant, grow, and care for gardens—building practical skills they can use in everyday life.
