Students grow as gardeners, athletes, and dancers by taking part in group activities and joining teams at Albert E. Kagel School.
Parents and caregivers, please join us in encouraging your child’s participation. Many clubs welcome students in grades one through eight and meet twice a week. Ask our parent coordinator or your child’s classroom teacher for sign-up and schedule information.
Athletics
Kagel Tigers are student-athletes in first through eighth grades. Tigers compete in coed soccer and volleyball. Teams practice after school and compete on Saturdays through the Milwaukee Recreation Youth Sports Program.
Cantos de las Américas
This annual celebration honors the many cultures of Milwaukee Public Schools families. Small groups of students represent Kagel School at the official district-wide celebration every May. Students spend several weeks learning and practicing dance traditions from the Spanish-speaking world such as Folklórico and salsa or sing traditional songs. They perform in culturally authentic dance attire.
Girls on the Run
Third through fifth graders can enjoy fun, evidence-based programs that inspire all girls to build their confidence, kindness, and decision-making skills. Dynamic lessons instill valuable life skills including the important connection between physical and emotional health.
Green Team
Fourth and fifth graders work with parents and staff to plan, prepare, and care for our redeveloped schoolyard and school gardens, which open in 2025.
STEAM Club
After school, Monday through Thursday, STEAM Club (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) meets in our Project Lead The Way engineering laboratory. Third, fourth, and fifth graders solve design challenges, strengthen their tech skills, and do award-winning work. Representing Kagel School at the annual MPS STEAM Fair, STEAM Club scientists took first place in 2025.
