MILWAUKEE PUBLIC MUSEUM VISIT

Last month, Ms. Morgan and Mr. Roman’s upper elementary classrooms enjoyed the day visiting the Milwaukee Public Museum. Students spent the day exploring the butterfly exhibit and enjoying the various species of butterflies. Students were also able to hold butterfly specimens and test water droplets on the wings to show their water-repelling features.

We roamed the streets of Old Milwaukee imagining what the city used to look like during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Students walked through the Native American exhibit, the Crossroads of Civilization exhibit, as well as the North American exhibit seeing the various ecosystems living in our environment. Our day ended with an IMAX show about the “Whys, Wonder’s, and Wow’s of Eclipses”.

Top favorites of the day were: the butterfly exhibit, the secret rattlesnake button, the old woman in the rocking chair, the dinosaurs, and the Old Streets of Milwaukee. It was a wonderful experience and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!

CONGRATULATIONS to the 6-8th grade basketball team on winning the Middle School League Championship game this past weekend! Thank you Coach Rucker and Coach Harris.

During HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) WEEK our 12th graders went to the HBCU Empower Me Tour College Fair at the Baird Center downtown. We had eight 12th grade students attend. They were able to interact with Admissions Reps from 35 HBCU’s and 15 local colleges. Some of our students even received on-site admissions and scholarships at the event.

In addition, on Friday we had our high school wide HBCU Trivia competition – which was a total blast, there were 10 teams that participated which amounted to approximately 150+ students. Ms. Geiger and Ms. Schenk’s Advisories won the competition and celebrated with a pizza and game party.

CONGRATULATIONS to the 4-5th Grade Coed volleyball team on a great season and a second-place finish in their tournament! The entire team worked so hard each week to continue to improve their skills including serving, passing, and understanding of the game. Special congratulations to Ava Bechaud for being voted MVP, Alaysia Kendrick for being voted Sportsmanship Award, and Xenia Torres for being voted Most Improved Player.  Every athlete continued to improve so much throughout the season and should be very proud of their accomplishments. Way to go! ~ Coach Maiter
