Successful Book Fair Sales!

Thank you to all the families and staff who made purchases at our Book Fair. Rainbow Booksellers gives back 25% of purchases to support our library program! We are so grateful to Mary Beth’s continued support of MacDowell’s Book Fair! Thank you also to the volunteers who helped with set up and sales. A special shoutout to Keri Whitmore, Kim Michels, and Nola Okegbemiro and a crew of upper elementary students who carried the boxes of books up 4 flights of stairs because our elevator was broken!

Alonzo was a standout student volunteer who took a full SIX trips with heavy boxes! He had a big smile the entire time and even stopped to hold doors for the other volunteers.

Thank you, Alonzo!!

Library Circulation Starts Opening NEXT WEEK!

The library opens for circulation next week (for Grades 1-6) and the week of October 28th for all other grade levels. After distributing Chromebooks to the entire campus, Ms. Raasch and her amazing volunteers have been working diligently to complete large library projects to prepare for school-wide circulation.

THANK YOU to our growing team of Library Volunteers who are vitally important to our library program!

MILWAUKEE MAKERS FUNDRAISER

~We are thrilled to announce that MacDowell Montessori PTO is partnering with the locally run Milwaukee Maker School Fundraiser to bring you an opportunity to shop locally this holiday season while also giving back to the efforts and initiatives of our PTO. This initiative is designed to support our school while celebrating creativity, innovation and community spirit.

The fundraiser features a variety of local makers and artisans offering unique products that are perfect for everyone on your holiday shopping list through a single e-commerce fundraising website. By participating, you’ll not only find fantastic items, but also contribute directly to our school programs and resources. 40% of every purchase will be donated back to the school, and these funds will help us reimburse teacher funds, provide field trip transportation, contribute to swim lesson costs, prom, social events and more.

Milwaukee Maker Fundraiser has officially gone live (Oct 14-Nov 3). We encourage you to share this link with family, friends and neighbors who might also be interested in shopping local while supporting our school – even if they are out of town, orders can be shipped. Pick-up orders will be ready the first week of December at the school.https://www.makerymaven.com/milwaukee-maker-fundraiser-macdowell

So many options and price points – great gift giving ideas!!

General Reminders

COLDER WEATHER: As the season has turned colder, please remember that younger students should have spare clothing for colder weather in their backpack/bookbag. If you have not already done so, now is the time to replace their clothing with warmer weather attire. Please label items.

LOST AND FOUND: Please check the lost and found when you are in the building. Please label items! Light jackets and hoodies are often a large part of our lost and found – labeling these items will help us return lost items to their owner. At the end of the month and each subsequent month we will box up all items to prepare for donation. October will be boxed up at the end of next week.

URBAN ECOLOGY CENTER – LOWER ELEMENTARY

Many of our Lower elementary classrooms visited the Urban Ecology Center at Washington Park in the last weeks. The kids learned that ecology is the study of animals, plants and getting along with each other.

HOMECOMING

MacDowell’s 7-12th grade students participated in Homecoming the week of October 7th-12th. The week included dress up theme days, a door decorating contest, staff vs student kickball game, pep rally, Wellness Day, and culminated with the Under the Autumn Moon dance.
