❄️Montessori at Home – Winter ❄️
Watch for highlights each week to help incorporate the Montessori methods at home and prepare our children for their great work.
The Montessori method believes kids learn best by exploring, discovering, and creating. But it can be hard to keep them active and learning when the weather gets cold. They might get bored and restless if they can’t run around outside.
To keep your children busy and happy this winter, try these Montessori-inspired activities:
Everyday Life Skills:
- Window Washing: Let them help you scrape ice off the windows. It’s a fun way to learn about taking care of the house.
- Ice scraper: A small, handheld scraper designed for removing ice from windows. You can find these at most auto parts stores or general retailers.
- Warm water and a spray bottle: If the ice is thick, spraying warm water on the window can help loosen it up before scraping.
- Old towels or rags: To wipe away any remaining water or melted ice.
- Gloves: To keep your child’s hands warm while they are scraping.
- Boot Cleaning: Kids love to clean! Let them scrub the snow and mud off their boots.
- A bucket of warm soapy water: Use a mild dish soap or a children’s soap.
- Two scrub brushes: One for each boot. You can use old toothbrushes or dedicated shoe brushes.
- A sponge or cloth: For wiping away excess water.
- A towel: To dry the boots.
- An old newspaper or a mat: To place the boots on while they dry.
- Gloves: To protect your child’s hands from the cold water.
These activities are all about helping your child learn important life skills while having fun!

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR ART CONTEST
Theme: “What Are You Doing for Others”
Congratulations to 10th Grade student Alexis Frazier-Jasper for placing 3rd in the high school division, and to Ms. Nancy who made this happen.
Also congratulations to our 1st and 2nd grade winners.
Their work will be on display for the 4pm celebration at the PAC on January 20th.
It is our student participation and talent that enables us to create this important program honoring the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
