IB LEARNER PROFILE OF THE MONTH
There are 10 learner profile traits which describe a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success.
This month we are spotlighting: KNOWLEDGEABLE: Students that develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. They engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance.
Aiden Riplinger, 10th grade, was voted this month by staff as a student that has shown what it takes to be knowledgeable. He is a bright young man who demonstrates the application of chemistry content and knowledge when he learns something new. He often thinks about how the content relates to ideas and things outside of the classroom based on his personal experience or general observations.
Keep up the great work Aiden!
Find this and more in October’s IB Newsletter HERE. A link to the current IB newsletter can always be found in our Quick Links below. October topics include MYP “A New Nation” Unit, Science Water Ecology, 9th grade Design Community Newsletters, Community Service Occupation, beginning stages of 10th grade Personal Projects, 12th grade IB work introductions, and much more!

DONORS CHOOSE – MS SCHERTZ WOODLAND GARDEN
Two years ago, funded in part by Donors Choose and in part by our Montessori Adolescent Microeconomy, we started a native wildlife garden in front of our school.
This year we are seeking to expand that garden and increase the biodiversity in the microhabitat.
You can find Ms. Schertz request, as well as other MacDowell teacher requests at this link:
https://www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?school=32463
COLDER WEATHER: As the season begins to turn colder, please remember that younger students should have spare clothing for colder weather in their backpack/bookbag. If you have not already done so, now is the time to replace their clothing with colder weather attire. Please label items!
LOST AND FOUND: I’ll be bringing items up from the cafeteria this week. Be sure to stop in and check the table in the main lobby if your child is missing sweatshirts or more.
Families that are in need of Holiday support, warm weather gear, food, etc. are encouraged to contact Ms. Rachel Jacobson, School Social Worker. Desk (Office) Number: (414) 935-1432

HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL ALL-CONFERENCE
The Juneau Varsity volleyball team showcased three All-Conference performers this season.
2nd team all-conference – Samayah Randle
1st team all-conference – Kilia Mathis
1st team all-conference – Michaela Ferguson
For this honor, student-athletes are chosen as the top athletes in their team sport by the opposing coaches. This is initiated by each coach nominating players from their team. A ballot is then sent to all coaches to vote for the best players, but coaches are not allowed to vote for players from their team.
Congratulations ladies!!
The Varsity finished the season with a record of 13-11-2, 7-0 in conference play and 3rd place in the conference tournament. As a team Juneau volleyball has been promoted to the Gold Division so we are now in the same league as Reagan, King, MSL, Hamilton, and Pulaski.
