Milwaukee Sign Language School (MSLS) offers a growing list of extracurricular opportunities that promote teamwork, confidence, and more.
Athletics
Girls Volleyball is offered as a winter sport at MSLS. We are currently seeking parents/guardians who want to volunteer as coaches for the following sports:
- Basketball
- Cross Country
- Football
- Soccer
- Track
If you are interested in helping us expand our athletic opportunities by coaching one of these teams, please contact our parent coordinator at easterdn@milwaukee.k12.wi.us. You will need to complete the Volunteer Application Form and pass a background check to coach at MSLS. Thank you in advance for your service to our school!
Additional Opportunity: Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run inspires students of all abilities to explore their emotions, cultivate empathy, and strengthen their physical health. Girls experience a sense of belonging and connection as a team as a volunteer coach leads them through fun, powerful lessons. At the end of the season, all team members run a 5K together.
Volunteer Needed
We’re also looking for a parent or guardian to coach Girls on the Run this year! You do not need to be a runner—you just need to care about supporting and encouraging the next generation. Coaches are trained to receive all the tools and support they need and find that they get as much out of coaching as they give. If you are interested in supporting our girls through this awesome program, please contact our parent coordinator at easterdn@milwaukee.k12.wi.us.
Clubs
Chess Club
Chess Club is offered to MSLS students in partnership with Morse Middle School. Our joint club welcomes all skill levels, from beginner to experienced. Students learn new strategies, practice with friends, and compete in friendly matches and tournaments. Chess builds critical thinking skills, patience, and sportsmanship—come make your move!
Other Clubs
Students at MSLS are encouraged to start their own clubs based on their interests. To create an after-school club, a faculty member or parent must volunteer as the club’s sponsor. Interested students can talk with their teachers or reach out to the principal for more information.
