About Will Luedtke

An educator in Milwaukee Public Schools for more than 20 years, William Luedtke started his teaching career at James Madison High School. He spent a number of years in MPS Central Services supporting credit recovery and alternative education programs that help students graduate.

Luedtke is excited to be the lead administrator for the Milwaukee Virtual School, having led the Milwaukee Virtual Program since its origin in 2021. He feels strongly about supporting students through education that meets their needs and learning style.

About Nathaniel Gillon

Nathaniel Gillon has served as a teacher, coach, principal, administrator, and counselor for more than thirty years. Currently a mentor in Milwaukee Virtual School, he is a staunch advocate for youth. “Education is an important key in the foundation of tomorrow’s leaders,” he says. “We work in MVS to develop the mind, body, and spirit.”

About Rozalia Harris

As a retired MPS teacher and induction specialist, Rozalia Harris spent many years educating students and helping new teachers acclimate to MPS. Now a mentor in Milwaukee Virtual School, she works with students in grades 5 and 9 so they can succeed and excel.

Harris enjoys having a connection to children and seeing the progress they make. Her favorite part of her job is hearing her students share their challenges and successes so they can talk through them or celebrate together. Watching her students grow is a win on any day of the week.

About Cheryl Hayes

Cheryl Hayes first served as a social worker and community organizer for a number of local organizations and was the founder/coordinator of the PEPCI Youth Support Group from 1989 to 2012.

She then spent 13 years as a high school special education teacher for 18- to 21-year-old students at Bay View High School and eight years as the GED coordinator and virtual learning monitor at Groppi High School before retiring from MPS. Hayes has enjoyed being a mentor to 8th-grade students in Milwaukee Virtual School since 2021.

About Shirley Lewis

Shirley Lewis taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Benjamin Franklin School for 25 years until her retirement in 2011. She then tutored students at the Reading Center of Cardinal Stritch University and also tutored in MPS schools for 11 years.

As part of the staff of Milwaukee Virtual School, Lewis is excited to continue her work in education by helping students and families navigate the program. Her approach is to encourage and guide students with strategies to help them work toward their success in school and in life. She finds the program challenging but rewarding and is grateful to be part of the MVS staff.

About Angela Mack

As a special education teacher, Angela Mack taught in elementary and middle school settings until her retirement from Milwaukee Public Schools in 2019. She is currently a mentor for Milwaukee Virtual School.

About Marie McClain

A retired assistant principal from Rufus King International High School, Marie McClain also served as a special education supervisor and in a number of other roles within MPS.

Since August, 2021, she has been a program mentor in the Milwaukee Virtual Program, now Milwaukee Virtual School. She is passionate about working with and advocating for children and their families and is dedicated to student success in the virtual learning environment. Her years of experience in education allow her to continue to make a positive impact on students and families.

About Yvette Moore

Yvette Moore completed 34 years as a teacher and school administrator in Milwaukee Public Schools before retiring in 2019. She spent 14 years as an instructor in the areas of marketing and business education, and an additional 20 years as a school administrator at several schools. She served as cheerleading coach, advisor of the first credit union in MPS at Washington High School, DECA advisor, Girl Scout leader, and testing/assessment leader.

As a mentor for MVS, she enjoys working with 12th graders and focuses on assisting them with monitoring and providing guidance about their courses for graduation.

About Julie Nussberger

Julie Nussberger was a teacher of health education, physical education, and aquatics. She retired from Milwaukee Public Schools in 2020 after 31 years in the classroom. She also served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves for 20 years and retired from military service in 2017.

Now a mentor for MVS, she uses her years of education and military experience to collaborate with students, families, teachers, and staff and to provide monitoring, guidance, and strategies for student success in the virtual program.

A lifelong resident of Milwaukee, Lisa Robbins enjoyed teaching for Milwaukee Public Schools for 30 years and retired in 2019. She taught elementary education and was a program implementer for 10 of those years.

Cathy Robinson retired as an MPS elementary teacher after more than 25 years in the classroom and has been a mentor in Milwaukee Virtual School since 2021. She has found this program to be rigorous and challenging, and shares that it is the kind of program that will prepare students with the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and aptitudes necessary for students to be successful in a constantly changing and complex world.

About Robert Strehlow

With a career of more than 50 years as an MPS educator, Robert Strehlow draws from extensive experience to inspire students to achieve academic excellence. He has served as a bilingual teacher at Vieau School, a districtwide attendance liaison, and a central services test proctor. Additional roles include a counselor and program coordinator for South Division’s Harley-Davidson Work Incentives Nurture Great Students (WINGS) program and advisor for the student advocacy club Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES).

As a mentor in Milwaukee Virtual School and throughout his career in MPS, he has always focused on fueling the spark to succeed. He shares his goal to help all students believe in themselves and academically soar!
