About Nathaniel Gillon
Nathaniel Gillon has served as a teacher, coach, principal, administrator, and counselor for more than thirty years. About Cheryl Hayes
Cheryl Hayes first served as a social worker and community organizer for a number of local organizations and was the founder/coordinator of the PEPCI Youth Support Group from 1989 to 2012.
She then spent 13 years as a high school special education teacher for 18- to 21-year-old students at Bay View High School and eight years as the GED coordinator and virtual learning monitor at Groppi High School before retiring from MPS. Hayes has enjoyed being a mentor to 8th-grade students in Milwaukee Virtual School since 2021.

About Shirley Lewis
Shirley Lewis taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at Benjamin Franklin School for 25 years until her retirement in 2011. She then tutored students at the Reading Center of Cardinal Stritch University and also tutored in MPS schools for 11 years.
As part of the staff of Milwaukee Virtual School, Lewis is excited to continue her work in education by helping students and families navigate the program. Her approach is to encourage and guide students with strategies to help them work toward their success in school and in life. She finds the program challenging but rewarding and is grateful to be part of the MVS staff.

A lifelong resident of Milwaukee, Lisa Robbins enjoyed teaching for Milwaukee Public Schools for 30 years and retired in 2019. She taught elementary education and was a program implementer for 10 of those years.

About Cathy Robinson
Cathy Robinson retired as an MPS elementary teacher after more than 25 years in the classroom and has been a mentor in Milwaukee Virtual School since 2021. She has found this program to be rigorous and challenging, and shares that it is the kind of program that will prepare students with the skills, knowledge, attitudes, and aptitudes necessary for students to be successful in a constantly changing and complex world.

About Robert Strehlow
With a career of more than 50 years as an MPS educator, Robert Strehlow draws from extensive experience to inspire students to achieve academic excellence. He has served as a bilingual teacher at Vieau School, a districtwide attendance liaison, and a central services test proctor. Additional roles include a counselor and program coordinator for South Division’s Harley-Davidson Work Incentives Nurture Great Students (WINGS) program and advisor for the student advocacy club Youth Empowered in the Struggle (YES).
As a mentor in Milwaukee Virtual School and throughout his career in MPS, he has always focused on fueling the spark to succeed. He shares his goal to help all students believe in themselves and academically soar!
