International Baccalaureate (IB)

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is dedicated to providing students with an internationally-minded, holistic, and rigorous academic program in more than 5,000 IB world schools located in more than 150 countries.

IB logoPulaski High School offers three International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes that educators and employers worldwide consider the gold standard for rigorous, globally relevant education. Programmes support the development of the adolescent, and all Pulaski students follow an IB programme. Pulaski’s IB programmes are aligned with state and international academic standards but teach students to think beyond standards and borders.

  • IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world. At Pulaski, the MYP spans grades nine and ten. After completing MYP studies, students will enroll in the IB Diploma or IB Career-related programme.
  • IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a comprehensive two-year international college-preparatory curriculum. Students have the option of being full diploma candidates, or they may take selected IB courses as certificate candidates. At Pulaski, the DP spans a student’s junior and senior years of high school. Successful completion of an IB course may lead to college credit and/or advanced placement.
  • IB Career-related Programme (CP) is an innovative two-year educational framework for Pulaski students in grades 11 and 12. The CP pathway is ideal for students who wish to focus on career learning.

IB Policies

Students follow these IB policies across Pulaski’s three programmes.

IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Learner Profile

The IB Learner Profile lays out the skills and competencies it seeks to instill in our students. The learner profile helps to guide teachers in the development of their courses and prompts our students to think more broadly about themselves instead of just about pure coursework.

As IB learners, we strive to be: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-Minded, Caring, Risk-Takers, Balanced, and Reflective.

Approaches to Learning

IB Approaches to Learning (ATL) encourage students to develop social, research, thinking, communication, and self-management skills. They develop these skills in IB coursework, projects, and service experiences.
