Enrollment Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if La Escuela Fratney has more applicants than open seats?
Students are randomly selected by computer lottery when there are more applicants than open seats. Students who are not assigned to our school during the lottery process will be placed on a waiting list for the upcoming year.

What happens when a family misses the February enrollment deadline?
Families can apply to La Escuela Fratney through August.

Can families who live outside Milwaukee apply?
Yes, but they must complete both the MPS online enrollment application and the Department of Public Instruction open enrollment processes.

Can children with no Spanish-language experience enroll after kindergarten?
Because La Escuela Fratney is a two-way dual language school, students can only enroll in K3 or K4 (unless they are able to pass a Spanish eligibility test).
