Families

As a Morgandale School family, you have many opportunities to engage with your child and the other families at our school.

Parent Coordinator

This role is designed to help parents and guardians find information about our school and MPS. Maria Montes is the parent coordinator at Morgandale. You can contact her at [email protected] or (414) 902-9982.

Communication

ClassDojo

Morgandale uses ClassDojo to help families stay updated on classroom activities and easily communicate with staff. Teachers share invites with parents/guardians at the beginning of the school year. To join ClassDojo, contact our main office or reach out to your child’s teacher for their individual classroom code.

Monthly Newsletter

Our parent coordinator puts together a monthly newsletter for families to highlight what is happening at Morgandale. View recent editions:

Events

We provide many opportunities for student and family engagement throughout the school year. Some events are designed to celebrate individual students, such as our perfect attendance celebrations. Other schoolwide events include:

  • Fall Festival
  • Field Days
  • Movie Nights
  • Open House (Multicultural Program)
  • Scholastic Book Fair
  • Spring Concert

We encourage everyone to attend and participate! You can find all upcoming events on our calendar.

Family Leadership Organization (FLO)

Monthly meetings of the Family Leadership Organization (FLO) promote family engagement. These meetings are an important way to get involved at Morgandale, ensuring that parents and family members can participate in discussion and decision-making that puts our students’ needs first.

Fundraisers

Regular fundraisers help support our school, and another easy way to provide support is through the Box Tops for Education program. By purchasing participating products and scanning receipts in the Box Tops app, families help provide funds for Morgandale. Every eligible purchase adds up, making everyday shopping a simple way to give back.

Student Support

Family participation is highly encouraged at Morgandale.

Family involvement leads to improved test scores; higher self-esteem; and better grades, attendance, and behavior for children.

You can help your child succeed in school!

  • Make sure your child arrives at school on time every day (9:10 a.m.).
  • Call the Morgandale attendance line at (414) 902-9900 (option 1) when your child will be absent. We must be sure every student has arrived safely and follow up with anyone who is not there. We must also record absences correctly.
  • Ensure that your child gets at least nine hours of sleep every night.
  • Dress your child appropriately for the weather. Please tell us if your student needs a coat or other outerwear.
  • Check your child’s backpack every day for homework or important messages.
  • Set aside a quiet space and time for homework. Help your child with assignments.
  • Read with your child every day.
  • Attend the Family Leadership Organization (FLO) monthly meetings.
  • Volunteer in the classroom.
  • Ask how you can join our field trips.

Volunteer Opportunities

Morgandale School is waiting for your help! Parents and guardians are always welcome and encouraged to donate their time to support our school. This helps to provide a safe and healthy school environment, improve our students’ academic performance, maintain positive relationships, and much more.

Here are examples of the types of activities you could be involved with:

  • Assisting a specific teacher
  • Assisting in the lunchroom or on the playground
  • Chaperoning field trips
  • Helping create and put up bulletin boards
  • Reading to or listening to children read in the classroom
  • Sharing your culture/career
