Allergy Alert
Maryland Avenue Montessori School and all our classrooms are NUT-FREE zones. Please refrain from sending classroom snacks or tasting items containing nuts and nut-butters. Classroom teachers may communicate additional food/food items that will be prohibited in their own classrooms for the health and safety of all students.
Free Breakfast, Lunch, and Milk
Every MPS student is eligible to receive breakfast and lunch at no cost, and Maryland Avenue follows the district’s fee-free universal breakfast and lunch policy. At this time, Maryland Avenue is not offering à la carte milk. Free school lunches include one milk; students can sign up for free lunch to receive milk.
School Nutrition Information
Milwaukee Public Schools follow federal nutrition guidelines, serving more fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy than ever before. School nutrition professionals prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals in age-appropriate portion sizes that provide essential nutrition and promote healthy childhood weights.
School lunch provides one-third of the recommended dietary allowances of protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, iron, calcium, and calories. School breakfast provides one-fourth of the recommended calories and nutrients per day.
Cold Lunch
Students may choose to bring a cold lunch. Families are encouraged to send a balanced, nutritious meal. Children are not allowed to drink sodas or eat candy with their lunches.
