Traffic Patterns

Located at 2418 N. Maryland Avenue along two one-way streets extending north from North Avenue, the Maryland Avenue Montessori School campus is a hub of bicyclist, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic on school days.

Please follow our recommendations to travel safely to and around our school property and drop off and pick up your student(s).

  • When approaching the school, stay to the right on Prospect Avenue.
  • When using the parking lot, enter the lot through the north apron on the left side of Prospect Avenue. Park in any available spot.
  • When parking on the east side of Prospect Avenue, please use the crosswalks.
  • When entering the school, use the north/main entrance on Prospect Avenue near the flagpole. Press the buzzer to let our office staff know you have arrived.
  • When visiting the school, stop at the front office and sign in before proceeding to your destination.

IMPORTANT: The “Maryland Avenue” or west side of our school campus is reserved for bus traffic at all times. There is no parking on Maryland Avenue.

Morning Arrival Parking and Drop-off

Parents/guardians have two options.

  • Hug and Go!
Located on Prospect Avenue, this area is marked by signage and includes the curbside immediately in front of the school. Parents/guardians should wait, signal, and pull into the “Hug and Go!” line. There is no “Hug and Go!” parking. Parents/guardians remain in their vehicle.
  • Short Term Parking
For visits of ten minutes or less. The curbs surrounding Maryland Avenue Montessori School are technically NO PARKING ZONES. Due to limited parking, the City of Milwaukee accommodates brief stops during morning dropoff and mid-day and after-school pickup times. The short-term parking area on Prospect Avenue does not include the “Hug and Go!” line, nor does it include the 10 feet immediately south of the parking lot.

Prospect Avenue

When approaching the school along Prospect Avenue before Prospect and Maryland Avenues split, there are two lanes of traffic.

Thank you for your awareness and your efforts to keep arrival and dismissal times safe for the children, families, and staff of Maryland Avenue Montessori School.
